Alto Vineyards invites you to taste some of the finest wines produced in the United States. The family owned winery and vineyard is located in the foothills of the beautiful Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. A second tasting room in Champaign, Illinois, not far from the University of Illinois campus, opened in December of 2001.
Since their first vintage in 1988, their wines have won numerous medals in National and International wine competitions.
In the recent Mid-American Wine Competition held at the Iowa Culinary Institute in Des Moines, Iowa. Alto Vineyards received 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. The 2003 Chambourcin received a Gold Medal as well as the 2004 Chambourcin was voted Best of Class, thus receiving a Gold Medal and earning one of the competition's highest honors.
