There are a variety of visitor activities available at Lincoln Home National Historic Site. Free Ranger led tours of the Lincoln Home are the central feature of the site. The Visitor Center offers orientation and interpretive films. Exhibits are located within the neighborhood. Stroll through the four-block historic area to see some houses in the Lincoln neighborhood. You should plan on 1½ to 2 hours for a comprehensive visit.

Groups of 15 or more must make a reservation through the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. SCVB will help you set up a schedule so you can visit the sites you want to see. You can request reservations by going online at www.visit-springfieldillinois.com Their 800 number is 800-545-7300. They will still ask you to make your request online.

They are open everyday except January 1, Thanksgiving, and December 25. The Visitor Center opens at 8:30 and closes at 5:00. The only way you can see the Lincoln Home is on a guided tour with a Park Ranger. The first tour of the Lincoln Home is around 9:00, the last tour is at about 4:30. Tours are free; just ask for a ticket at the Visitor Center Desk. Tours last about 20 to 25 minutes. We also have movies and exhibits in the Visitor Center. Two of the restored homes have exhibits in them.
